For us, good and sustainable architecture ensures the environments we create meet today’s needs without compromising the future, the environment, or the climate. The construction sector currently accounts for 36% of global energy use and 39% of energy-related CO2 emissions. Over the next 40 years, 230 billion square meters are expected to be built globally – the equivalent of Paris’s land area every week. Architects play a critical role in addressing this challenge.

In all our roles – as consultants, employers, purchasers, clients, collaborators, influencers, and designers of public and private spaces – we take responsibility for advancing a sustainable society. Our daily work is guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Sweden’s environmental objectives, and climate ambitions.

We understand that our greatest environmental impact comes through our projects. We also recognize that sustainability challenges are growing. That’s why we continuously develop our skills, tools, and partnerships to make smarter decisions that maximize each project’s sustainability potential.

We use our proprietary tool, Sustainable by Tengbom, alongside other support tools to make informed decisions throughout the project. Based on the goals and challenges, we assemble the ideal team from Tengbom to tackle your specific needs.

Sustainability isn’t “just” about materials, emissions, and finances. At Tengbom, social sustainability also means creating environments and buildings where people feel safe and thrive—long-term. This includes norm-critical design, equality certifications, and health-promoting architecture.

We continually develop and evaluate our methods and processes, all within the framework of our ISO 9001 and 14001 certifications.

Our own sustainability work

At our offices, we systematically reduce emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3) as part of our goal to achieve climate neutrality. Until then, we offset our total climate footprint with the help of Atmoz Consulting.
