Accessibility

An environment that is accessible and functional for people with disabilities, is an environment that benefits everyone. Statistically over ten per cent of the population experiences some form of disability, but even everyday tasks that require using a wheeled walker or a stroller can pose challenges in people’s lives. Accessibility affects our experience of the entire built environment, from our homes to public places and premises.

With Tengbom’s human-centred approach to architecture, we make sure that everything we design includes end-users’ specific needs. Several of our architects at Tengbom are Certified Experts in Accessibility and assist builders in following the construction regulations concerning accessibility. With the knowledge of the regulations, the design itself can solve accessibility issues and, combined with innovative thinking, elevate the project as a whole.

The earlier we come into the project, the easier it will be to meet these requirements.

We engage in all types of projects including reviewing drawings, design support, preparing accessibility reports, inventorying existing environments, suggesting measurements and carrying out inspections.
